Slægt af samlere (2018)

I am a gatherer. I am daughter and granddaughter of gatherers and mother of a new generation of gatherers. In my family we are incapable of throwing away anything – neither lollypop sticks from a school trip nor plate shards or old toothbrushes.

I tell jokes about it. But frankly it is a serious business as it is the narrative rooted deep in the core of an object that attaches me to it and I cannot throw it away without throwing part of me away concurrently.
The objects in slægt af samlere (Lineage of gatherers) are assembled as mental coordinates ordering different stories that I remember. They make a trajectory of repetition, overlap, deletion and deviation. Space upon space. Chapter upon chapter.
This assemblage gives structure to a sum of stories. The stories are linked through me. Their connection is inside of me.
I am the link of these objects.
